I Really Messed Up My PC

There's a reason why nobody supports it any longer. I hope that might help. I had AVG Free 9.0 when it occurred and I had to reinstall it and run a scan to get it off. I'm screwed. http://custsolutions.net/i-really/i-really-messed-up-my-pc-and-could-use-help.php

Still a terrible idea, though, given some alternatives. ____________________________No matter how cynical you get, it is impossible to keep up. - Lily Tomlin My cheevos!

I can run notepad, but I can't run calc, or java apps... • I have two alternatives: Do a system restore.
  • That hand me down computer was totally screwed up by something else.
  • This is a hand-me-down computer.
  • Moreover restarting my computer doesn't always work or takes a very long time so I can forced to hold the button to force shut down.
  • I did have a problem where certain programs I installed wouldn't open because of the "side-by-side configuration" error, but I managed to fix that by uninstalling and reinstalling all of the

So far my problems are that some of my usual start up programs like logitech gaming software are not able to open. I haven't tried to re-install AVG antivirus or MSFT office 2010 yet as I believe one of them may have been responsible for crashing my computer. I have the Windows 10 Pro version on my USB which the msft employee kindly linked me to for a download. permalinkembedsavereportgive goldreply[–]WhosMugen 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago(0 children)Same has happened to me, Can't open ME and chrome just shows a white screen. I need to get familiar with Windows 8 before I buy a new computer with that OS installed. I'm not exactly sure how, but I'm pretty sure it sounded different before the update. I can't open my settings, google chrome, and some of my games won't finish loading or opening.

Retourer au Final Gear ce Noël. Kommer att återvända till Final Gear vid jul. Doesn't seem like I will get a call back (it's been well over an hour). Will the programs I just uninstall come back into the computer if I do that?

Chkdsk usually checks your HDD for errors and bad sectors and repairs so I doubt chkdsk causes all those errors. To address your first error, I'm assuming Asus has some sort of I've never used it, but Revo Uninstaller is supposed to be helpful. permalinkembedsaveparentreportgive goldreply[–]moonstarcake 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago(0 children)tried that, a format and clean install, all the damn commands like get app and safescan. Wow...

If you're not a gamer you have literally nothing to loose. Regardless, as you found, System Restore is your friend. It's almost 12 years old, and I think Windows 7 is much better. http://custsolutions.net/i-really/i-really-messed-up-a-new-computer.php I think I was pressing the wrong keys.

A lot of malware out today isn't the simple "just run Spybot" or "delete some registry entries" variety from a couple of years ago. For instance, some settings appear in the normal way (windows) and others appear in the new style. I am seriously considering moving to Ubuntu now.

Glad it all worked out well for you. when is the last time you did a scan disc and repair? There's a reason why nobody supports it any longer. Oy.

Any shortcuts I pin to the taskbar are removed when I reboot the computer. I immediately got rid of them but a bunch of the problems remained as stated above. Need an account? To start viewing messages, select the forum that you want to visit from the selection below.

Memtest isn't a Windows program, and you must boot itbefore running it. The DVD drive should read disks before Windows kicks in. Windows 7 would be very nice. I need to get my own job and save big time in order to get a Mac.

Does that make sense? Once you've burned the CD, boot and see whether Memtest finds any problems.Overheating is another common culprit.
