I Think My Problems Stem From A BIOS Settings

That is, my computer turns on by itself at seemingly random times from shutdown.I've done everything everyone suggests (Bios settings off, wake from LAN off, disconnect front panel connectors so on) AdamP08-27-2007, 09:53 AMMy bioshock was running great, played it all night yesterday. This behavior makes me think the mobo is just faulty; even with a bad power switch or CMOS battery, I would expect the problem to be there all the time. Also, you don't have to get these drivers from ASUS.

SecuROM uses its own MAPI driver to piggy back your mail server system. How old is the Athlon XP? Is the light still on? On the contrary: I believe BIOS should provide the drivers for all hardware in the computer.

So I am 100% certain that Bioshock or secuROM is causing this mouse lag in my Windows environment and this is why I'm agitated with the people telling us we're wrong I checked out ASUS's website, where does it state not to install the updated drivers into an existing OS install? Obviously the media loved this, as they new his so called challenge was such a rigged fiasco that it was nigh on impossible for anybody to take up his challenge and domicron08-29-2007, 07:43 AMI went to the driver update page for my motherboard.

Have you disabled the WIFI Adaptor in the BIOS or Windows? swaaye08-29-2007, 08:45 PMOut of curiousity, how do you folks even know your systems are stable? This is getting frustrating since I don't know if I am going to have to wait 1 minute or 30 minutes for it to boot on its own. iJacks08-27-2007, 08:35 AMSorry, but this would not have been the game that caused the BIOS to reset...this is indicative of a seperate problem.

I finished up last night and shut the computer down (Start>Shut Down). Then in the evening I felt comfortable enough to start up bioshock again..60 minutes into the game.. I'll be on the Battlefield 2142 servers until then. http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/45/bioshockae8.th.jpg (http://img365.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bioshockae8.jpg) Interestingly enough *not* securom files.

network adapter or usb). Usually, the default is to leave it in the state it was when power was lost. m4chine03-30-2013, 06:02 PMI feel this error is so serious that it warrants a special thread, outside of the current 'pc problems' thread where most of the posts get buried with nonsense. I believe in my system being strong and stable as it has been for me in the last 12 months, and overclocking is not part of that agenda, as many posters

First specs: - AMD 2800+ - Win XP Pro SP2 - 1GB Ram - Geforce 7600gs What was I doing? - Playing through medical facilities What happened? - The screen went Its been a while since I've had a LAN hookup so I can't remember the LAN lights stay on or not in the powered off state. Why Vista disappointed me so much What's up with Intel and graphics anyway? Again I think securom is not the culprit.

WolfpupNX08-29-2007, 08:29 PMThe BIOS thing I've never experienced anything like, but whatrever causes these hard resets is NOT normal at all, and I can see it happening. 13thHouR08-29-2007, 08:31 PMSome facts That is another bios setting.Usually, the default is to leave it in the state it was when power was lost.But... The computer still restarts but the start time has moved to mid day. the hardware is fine.

I had it enabled so my external drives powered down when I turned the PC off and this has worked fine for 6 months but the new firmware update seems to Did you run them thru Memtest86+ or Prime95 for a few hours? The lack of response from 2k is disheartening..crashing and resetting bioses is a serious issue.

In one forum post I found, the OP mentioned that was his problem.

  3. Personally all my comps are OC and all have had 24 orthos tests/ prime 95 and memtest ran on them to ensure stability.

With the Rev 1 board, this did not occur.I see that the newer board has additional settings but ASUS doesn't explain all of them that well. If the CPU or mobo goes over a certain temperature it will sound and alarm, allowing me to act quickly. I had looked at the ErP option several times, but I just could not figure out what it could possibly have to do with the wake issue. I had been playing for about 1.5 hours and I'm at the part in Arcadia.

Anybody know why Bioshock is using SWF files? I have checked for start up settings in Windows and found nothing.

I'll check out the BIOS.I should have noted that I am not wired to a LAN, but rather using the built in wireless on the mobo, so I am not sure You would configure your RAID 1 in the bios for the two drives and when setting up windows you would select the SSD to load windows on.As far as what happened I'm still waiting for it to boot back up after I disabled the LAN adapter...its been 40 minutes...EDIT: Spoke too soon, just booted back up. I just played all thru the first map no issues.

When I clicked 'quit' to windows to try to prevent another crash the audio hung again 'kik' 'kik' 'kik' etc..etc.. Disks on the other hand are supported in BIOS just for the purpose of booting, nothing else. This time my graphics driver didnt crap out, but I checked my task manager and it shows 2 internet connections! Unfortunately, it is already set correctly.Next, I was advised to reset the BIOS, which I will do next and see if the problem comes up again.
