Most of your hardware should be plug and play but some of your hardware needs specific drivers to work properly. I've tried several fixes posted on other forums, but with no luck. OK it seems to be working now I deleted it in the first place By mess clicking on the uninstall program feature. So you're saying my emachine had a sound card drive and windows 7 have a sound car drive tow ? have a peek here I somehow accidently deleted my soundcard (whilst add/removing files i think) There is nothing in 'Audio' in My Computer, its all greyed out so I cannot select anything.

Can You Help? What happened when you rebooted was that Windows installed a generic driver for you, but not to worry. From the MSCONFIG window, I selected SERVICES and began to scroll through the list. Check This Out Only Legacy Audio Drivers and Audio Codecs show up in Device Manager.
Updating the realtek speakers from Device manager worked like gem. In Device manager these are listed Audio Codecs Legacy Audio Drivers Legacy Video Capture Devices Media Control Devices Video Codecs but in control panel it says no audio device . If that doesn't help, can you tell me more about the problem?
