If the hard disk is very damaged, chkdsk either won't start scanning at all or won't be able to finish scanning it. On reboot, the computer prompted me to load a restore point and it worked. because my laptop has no external cd drive..and i think i need to boot it. Things that cause all those horrid messages & incorrect self-diagnoses are:- pressing the start button too long the second time & having the whole system shut down (rather than it just thank you sooo much. hey can't I just take out the hard drive and copy it somewhere and handle the I think ''physical'' cpu problem after im all relaxed about my files??? =) thanks..
